How To Downgrade iPhone 4S, iPad 2 From iOS 5.1.1 To iOS 5.0.1

You can now downgrade your A5 device (iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and iPad 3) from iOS 5.1 or 5.1.1 back down to 5.0.1 with Redsn0w as long as you have SHSH blobs saved with TinyUmbrella or on Cydia’s server.

To know if you have SHSH blobs saved on Cydia’s server, check out the image below for reference. You should see SHSH blobs at the top, so if you see 5.0.1 as one of the blobs, you’re set to go on with the restore and you don’t need to find any of the blobs, Redsn0w will do it for you!

So let’s get on with the downgrade. You’ll need to grab the latest Redsn0w, iOS 5.0.1 firmware, and iOS 5.1/5.1.1 firmware from the download section at the bottom of this page.
STEP 1: Open Redsn0w 0.9.11b1 and plug in your device.
STEP 2: Click on the “Extras” option and then choose “Even More” at the bottom of that screen.
STEP 3: Click on “Restore” and then “IPSW” and FIRST choose the iOS 5.0.1 firmware on your computer, then when prompted, choose the current firmware you’re on (5.1 or 5.1.1).

STEP 4: After choosing your firmwares, you’ll need to load up your SHSH blobs. If you’ve never been jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1, choose “Local” and find your blobs from TinyUmbrella. If you’ve been jailbroken on 5.0.1 before, choose “Remote” and Redsn0w will load them for you.
STEP 5: Redsn0w will kick the device into Recovery Mode and then start with the restore process all by itself.
STEP 6: You’re done! You should get this message when your device is finished!
