If you’ve been living uder a rock all this time then you’ve probably missed the news that Chronic Dev team released their untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 in the form of Absinthe v2.0. This time Chronic Dev team came prepared because they’ve released Absinthe v2.0 on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems at the same time. Chronic Dev team announced this untethered jailbreak at Hack in Box conference which is happening in Amsterdam right now.
Jailbreak 5.1.1 Untethered Using Absinthe 2.0
After copious amounts of work and many sleepless nights Absinthe 2.0 is finally here to jailbreak your device. This release has been a large collaborative effort between Chronic-Dev Team and iPhone Dev Teams (Jailbreak Dream Team)
This jailbreak supports firmware 5.1.1 ONLY and is again one of the most easiest jailbreaks to use (so easy your grandma could do it ;D)
Absinthe v2.0 support almost every iOS device running iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Unsupported devices include Apple’s latest Apple TV 3 and iPad 2,4 but the team HAS confirmed that they will add support for the iPad 2,4 very soon.
Here how you can jailbreak your iPhone 4S, iPad 3 and other iOS devices with Absinthe v2.0:
Step 1: Download Absinthe v2.0 for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from the following links:
Step 2: Back up are recommended so it is highly recommended that you connect your iOS device to computer and make a back up before you proceed.
Step 3: Launch Absinthe v2.0 which you downloaded in Step 1.
Step 4: Absinthe v2.0 will detect your iOS device instantly, click on the Jailbreak button once you device is detected by Absinthe
Step 5: Absinthe will start jailbreak your iOS device untethered on iOS 5.1.1, just sit back and relax
If everything goes well, you should now have an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone 4S, iPad 3 or any other iOS device you were jailbreaking. Remeber that this jailbreak only works with iOS 5.1.1, it won’t work with any other iOS firmware version.

Semi Untethered iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Now Available Through Cydia


1. Jailbreak your iOS 5 device using Redsn0w’s tethered jailbreak and boot tethered.
2. Navigate to the Sources menu in Cydia, and add the source: “http://thebigboss.org/semitether”.
3. Open the source, and there should be one package titled “SemiTethered”.
4. Install the package and reboot your device.
5. Your device is now in a semi tethered state, and you will have to boot tethered using Redsn0w so use the disabled features.

Steps
1. Open redsn0w, click “Jailbreak”.
2. Plug in your device and put it into DFU mode as instructed to after pressing “Next”
Note: This will not work on iPhone 4S or iPad 2 for 5.1*
3. Wait for your device to jailbreak close Redsn0w and open it again.
Booting Tethered - Do steps below now and every time your device turns off -
4. Open Redsn0w again and click “Extras” and then “Just Boot”
5. Wait for your device to boot up and it will be jailbroken.

Jailbreak iOS 5 / 5.0.1 With Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 [Tutorial]


Step 1: Connect your iOS Device to your computer via USB. Then Open iTunes 10.5 and restore to iOS 5 / 5.0.1
Step 2: Open Redsn0w > Hit on Extras > then Select IPSW and point it to iOS 5 / 5.0.1 IPSW file.

Step 4: Click on Back > Hit Jailbreak and check on “Install Cydia”
Step 5: Follow the instructions to put your device in DFU mode.

That’s it. In just 80 Seconds your device will be jailbroken and you will have Cydia installed on your iOS Device.
Note: Remember, This is a tethered jailbreak (Except for iPhone 3GS old bootrom) and you will have connect your device to the PC and Tethered Boot it every time your device reboots.

Step 1: Open Redsn0w > Hit Extras > Click On “Just Boot”
Step 2: Click Next, Then follow the instructions to put your device in DFU mode.
